Admissions Requirements

  1. Achievement of the minimum required score on the PSB entrance exam (25 in Science and 35 in Judgment & Comprehension.) Transfer students , applicants with earned Associates and /or higher degree and Licensed Practical Nurses are exempt from this requirement
  2. Graduation from high school
  3. A minimum 2.5/4.0 GPA based on high school or 12 credits from college is required or a minimum score of 500 or 50 (depending on district) on the GED exam as documented on sealed unopened transcript or results of the GED exam.
  4. Level II Background check.
  5. An official transcript must be sent to NRI Institute

Advanced Placement in the LPN/ADN TRACK:
In addition to the above, students who are seeking advanced placement in the LPN/ADN TRACK must have:

  1. Graduated from a state approved practical nursing program. If the LPN course was completed at another school an official transcript must be sent to NRI Institute at the address listed. All transcripts must be received prior to the start of the program.
  2. Current active license as a practical nurse.
  3. Completion of the required courses indicated on Page 40 of this catalog.

Acceptable documentation of high school graduation or its equivalency may include:

  • a copy of a high school transcript or diploma,
  • GED transcript or certificate,
  • copy of associate's, bachelor's, master's, or doctorate degree from an accredited college or university or official transcript indicating the same,
  • Official college transcript indicating the basis of the applicant's admission into the college program as being high school graduation
  • for students completing high school in a foreign country, who are unable to produce a copy of their diploma, NRI Institute form “ Affidavit of Student’s Graduation from a Foreign High School” completed in English
  • copy of a fully completed Department of Defense form DD-214 indicating that the applicant completed high school prior to or during his/her armed forces service
  • for homeschooled individuals, the superintendent of schools of the district in which the student is homeschooled must certify in writing on official letterhead that the student's program was substantially equivalent to a four-year high school program.
  • Graduation from Non-Chartered Non-Tax supported high schools is NOT considered documentation for entrance into programs unless school is listed/ registered with the respective state’s Department of Education at the time of graduation.
  • Graduation from an on-line high school is NOT considered documentation for entrance into programs unless school is listed/ registered with the respective state’s Department of Education at the time of graduation.

Admission Procedures for Nursing Students
1) Review all admission requirements for your chosen program and legal limitations for nurse licensure.
2) Schedule an entrance test and pay the testing fee ( currently $50)
3) Meet with an admission representative to discuss the results.
4) If you achieved a satisfactory score, submit an application fee with a registration fee of $50.00. You will be entitled to a refund if you cancel your application in writing in five (5) business days.

5) Fill out the request for credit transfer form and order official college transcripts if you have attended any other college(s) or submit the same, in person, in an envelope sealed by the school officials.

6) FOR ALL NURSING PROGRAMS ALL OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS MUST BE RECEIVED PRIOR TO START OF PROGRAM AND IS A CONTINGENCY TO ACCEPTANCE INTO THE PROGRAM. ALL ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS MUST BE MET BEFORE A STUDENT WILL BE ACCEPTED.


7) Background check will be required at time of application. The Admissions Department designated staff will contact students with positive results. Depending upon the severity or type of incident, student will be advised that clinical agencies have the right to deny students clinical placement. Students will be eligible for a full refund of their application fee if they marked having a felony on their application form.
8) Schedule an appointment with a Financial Officer.
9) Once the required documentation is completed and you have been accepted into the program, you will receive an acceptance letter.

Once the applicant has received the letter of acceptance, the applicant must:
1) Pay the $100.00 acceptance fee indicating that they will attend classes. Failure to pay the fee may result in the Applicant’s place being taken by another applicant.
2) Attend the mandatory scheduled orientation session.
3) Sign an enrollment agreement & disclosure form.
4) Complete documentation for clinical experience.

The entrance requirements for admission/ registration to the NRI Institute of Health Sciences for the Sonographer program are:
• High School Diploma or GED
• Applicant must be 18 years of age.
• Applicants must have a personal interview with school personnel.
• Applicants must complete an enrollment agreement and application.
• Applicant must pay enrollment fee.
• Catalogs are available at least one week prior to starting dates.
Enrollment Requirements
• Students shall be responsible for arranging for the medical care and/or treatment, if necessary, including transportation in case of illness or injury while participating in the program at the school. In no event shall the school be financially or otherwise responsible for said medical care and treatment.
• Students will present the following health records on the first day of their educational experience at school. Students will NOT be allowed to commence experiences until all records are received.
▪ Tuberculin skin test within the past 12 months or documentation as a previous positive reactor or a chest x-ray taken within the past 12 months.
▪ Proof of Rubella and Rubella immunity by positive antibody titers or 2 doses of MMR.
▪ Varicella immunity, by positive history of chickenpox or proof of Varicella immunization.
▪ Proof of Hepatitis B immunization or completion of a certification of declination of vaccine, if patient contact is anticipated.
▪ Negative drug screen.

• Student Status
Student represents and warrants to the school that the student participating hereunder:
▪ Is not currently excluded, debarred, or otherwise ineligible in the Federal health care programs as defined in 42 U.S.C. Section 1320a-7b(f) (the Federal health care programs).
▪ Is not convicted of a criminal offense related to the provision of health care items or services but has not yet been excluded, debarred, or otherwise declared ineligible to participate in the Federal health care programs.
• Is not under investigation or otherwise aware of any circumstances which may result in the student being excluded from participating in the Federal health care programs.
• Clinical requirements to be completed fourteen days before clinical externship
▪ Tuberculin skin test or CXR
▪ Hepatitis B vaccine
▪ Negative drug screen
▪ Students must be current on all didactic portions of the curriculum

Applicants will be subject to the following regulations concerning educational qualifications related to the applicant's Ability-to-Benefit from the training provided by the Institute:

All students must be above the age of mandatory school attendance (16).

An applicant must have completed high school (Diploma) or have proof of having

earned a GED. Further, the applicant must take the entrance exam and achieve a satisfactory score as outlined below

1) Schedule the entrance exam, PSB (Psychological Services Bureau).
2) After you achieve a satisfactory score on the entrance exam, you will begin admission process. Students must meet the minimum score in the following sections of PSB to enroll in the Practical Nursing Program):

Science 25

Vocational Adjustment Index 35

3) The admission process follows:

a. Pay a Registration Fee of $50.00 and fill out the application at the front desk. You will be entitled a refund if you cancel your application in writing in five (5) business days. Then, schedule an appointment with Director of Admission to submit documentation for acceptance by calling 561-688-5112.

b. Submit in person your high school diploma or official GED certificate (sealed in the envelope), or an official transcript (sealed in the envelope) from your high school and all previously attended colleges OR Request a COPY of above-mentioned official transcripts (including High School transcript) be sent directly to NRI INSTITUTE OF HEALTH SCIENCES at the address listed below.

FOR ALL NURSING PROGRAMS ALL OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS MUST BE RECEIVED PRIOR TO START OF PROGRAM AND IS A CONTINGENCY TO ACCEPTANCE INTO THE PROGRAM. ALL ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS MUST BE MET BEFORE A STUDENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. The transcript must be sent to:

Upon requesting official transcripts, you will need to schedule an appointment with Director of Admission to have your transcripts evaluated. Please schedule your appointment by calling 561-688-5112

If you have international transcript from high school or college, it must be evaluated by Education Evaluator’s International. 4) Schedule a background check. Students with positive results will be contacted and must meet with an Admission Director. Depending on the severity or type of incident, clinical agencies have the right to deny clinical placement to a student.

5) Complete a physician’s evaluation form. This form must be completed in order to be accepted into the nursing program. (Form is provided by NRI INSTITUTE OF HEALTH SCIENCES)

1. Prospective students are first interviewed by the school director or his/her designee to determine the interest and applicability of the academic program of NRI INSTITUTE OF HEALTH SCIENCES for the prospective student.
2. Applicants will complete and submit the application/enrollment agreement with the $100.00 registration fee to the Director of Admissions NRI INSTITUTE OF HEALTH SCIENCES or his/her representative.
3. Applicants will be subject to the following regulations concerning educational qualifications related to the applicant's Ability-to-Benefit from the training provided by the Institute:
• All students must be above the age of mandatory school attendance (16).
• An applicant must have completed high school (Diploma) or have proof of having earned a GED.
4. Applicants will be notified of their admission status upon receipt of all completed application materials.
5. Applicants accepted into the training programs of NRI INSTITUTE OF HEALTH SCIENCES will be allowed to begin classes at the next available entrance cycle.
